Let The Games Begin

Hello All,

Welcome to the Save the Liver Blog - thx to everyone that has donated, and to everyone who hasn't click click click (just under the dodgy photo of us)! If you have a chance to chuck a couple of quid towards this worthy cause and seeing Jez and myself suffer please do!

Now on with the update:

Friday 30th:
With my sobriety partner in crime making his way back from kiwi country, it was up to me to fly the flag and consume as much as possible heading into the last weekend before the big month 'O' pain.

It started innocently as a couple drinks after work
Then it was onto a mates for beers and pizza... so far so good.
But after that it went a bit pear shaped. After receiving the call of a house party in Notting Hill - it was off to the West-Siideeee with Benny and Co to a humble abode in the posh part of town. Of course the place was filled with a bunch of Melbournians, which meant good times till 4 in the morning.

Sat 31st:
Not wasting any time, the next day it was back on the sauce at lunchtime with a few tasty beers while watching the mighty Reds destroy Arsenal 4-1. By the evening and pint count was around 5-6 and the platform was set for the night ahead. Luckily a friends birthday dinner at a Japanese place was next on the list @ 7pm which would allow plenty of drinking time to lead into mid-night. A bit of Rum and Vodka was thrown into the mix as aperitifs before dinner began - from there it was cocktail city, the old favourite, the mojito was hitting a sour note so it was time to take it up a notch:

The Saketini - Sake + Gin and a customary olive: M-A-R-V-E-L-L-O-U-S!!

At 11pm I was getting a tad worried - i was feeling good, but with an hour left i needed a kick that would keep me going through the night. Then a bright spark suggested Sake for the table - and we were all systems go!! I reckon we were in the double figures of bottles by the time 12 hit. Although I can recommend not trying to skull hot Sake out of a large Mug at 11:59 with 20 seconds remaining, tends to sting the throat a little.

I was good to go for the next half hour, but once we got to the next venue and the hips were movin I felt a void in my right hand that was unfortunately only filled with red bull (or a cheap nasty version thereof). Our party took great delight in tempting me with the sweet sweet alcoholic nectar - but luckily with Sake in my belly I battled on and survived through the night.

The next day with sore head in toe, I was happy to be saying goodbye to that evil liquid - that was until later that night where while out catching up with friends and I was forced to enjoy all that coca-cola has too offer.

Now with Jez back in the country the hard yards are ahead of us - starting with this weeks Champions League. With games on Tues and Wed - both Liverpool and Chelski on show usually involves popping down to the local. However this time the local looks to be one of two couches with a glass of Cotties Cordial and a disgruntled look on our faces - go the sugar rush!
