My Way - Frank Sinatra

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final soft drink.
My friends, you've made it clear,
And sponsored us, of which I thank you.

I've drank, my belly full.
Consumed each and every fruit juice
I want, no more of this
I'm drinking my way.

Red Bulls, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
To me get through without temptation.

Nearly complete, this charted course;
Each careful step along sobriety's byway,
I want, no more of this
I'm drinking my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I had to watch, watch other people spew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I turned to cola, didn't spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall;
Now I'm drinking my way.

I’ve cried and cried and cried.
I’ve had my fill; now I want boozing.
And as this ban subsides,
I cannot, wait to get those shots in.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - no drinks in a sly way,
No, oh no not me,
I'm drinking my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?
One more day or all is naught.
To have the drink he truly feels;
And not give in and never yield.
The record shows I took the blows -
Now I'm drinking my way

25 mins to go....

Hi All,

Well nearly there and I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thanks to everyone over this past month for all their sponsorship and support. 20 mins to go, but i'll resist the temptation to suck down a cold one at midnight and wait till post work tomorrow.

It's been a rough road but we made it... not without temptation.

So without further adieu I'll leave you with one more chessy number.....

All Night Long - Lionel Richie

Well my friends the time has nearly come
To pour a glass and down some rum
No need to let the measuring be done
Let the spirits flow on (flow on flow on).
Everybody drink, everybody dance
Loose yourself in booze filled romance

Were going to, cocktail,
martini, mojito, balini
C'mon and drink along
Were going to cocktail,
Kahlua, zebrowka, tequila.
C'mon and drink along

All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)

People spilling out on the streets
Summer pubs where it tastes so sweet
Magners on ice would go down a treat
Let the spirits flow on (flow on flow on).

See it on your gut it adds an extra fold
'Specially when those beers take hold

Were going to, cocktail,
martini, mojito, balini
C'mon and drink along
Were going to cocktail,
Kahlua, zebrowka, tequila.
C'mon and drink along

All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)

Once you get one in you can't lay down
Beer gogs are on and that girls getting down
Back to her place and your up and away
Wake up next morning and then start to pray.

Oh my goodness what have i done (oh minger minger)
How the hell do i leave here (oh find your keys)
Oh my goodness what have i done (oh minger minger)

whoa whoa whoa yeah - we're gonna need another round in.

All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)
All night long (all night)

Up upon the beat their drinking on the streets
All night long (all night all night)
Next morning a blur, I need some alka seltzer
All night long (all night all night)
Head feels a shocker, i need some berrocca
All night long (all night all night)
No feel good, No feel good.

All Night, All Night, All Night....

The End is near... time for a beer

Hello All,

Well it's been a tough couple of weeks but we are holding strong. Easter saw us out and about at some of our favourite haunts and while others were drinking their fill (and throwing their phones) it was redbull and far too much of it - that stuff does damage.

The next weekend took us to sunny Brighton to see Mr. Eric Prydz (DJ) - that was another tough affair. Two of our lads were absolutely smashy smashed while this time the red bull equivalent was 'Shark' our new drink of the night.... note to others 4 cans of shark will screw with your head. Both Jez and myself experienced some seriously messed up dreams.

So 7 days left and and the home stretch is upon us. The big day which also happens to be my bday falls the evening Liverpool play Chelsea in the Champions League 2nd Leg Semi - it shall be HUGE!!

HELP!

Sung to the tune of The Beatles - Help (of course)

HELP!
HELP! I NEED A DRINK, SOMEBODY
HELP! I'LL TAKE ANY VODIE
HELP! YOU KNOW I NEED A DRINK, HELP.

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, SO MUCH YOUNGER THAN TODAY,
I USED TO HAVE A BEVERAGE EVERY SINGLE DAY.
BUT NOW THOSE DAYS ARE GONE, AND I'M COMPLETELY TURNED,
BUT IF I FIND I CHANGE MY MIND MY WALLETS GONNA BE BURNED

HELP ME IF YOU CAN, I'M FEELING SOBER
IT'S SO STRANGE NOT TO BE DRUNK AND FALLING OVER
NO MORE BEER GOGS, SO LOT LESS GIRLS ARE GO-ERS
WON'T YOU PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME.

AND NOW MY LIFE HAS CHANGED IN OH SO MANY WAYS,
MY WEEKEND MORNS NO LONGER VANISH IN THE HAZE.
BUT EVEN THOUGH MY BODY FEELS SO CLEAN AND PURE,
I'M GONNA NEED A DRINK TONIGHT, LIKE I'VE NEVER DONE BEFORE.

HELP ME IF YOU CAN, I'M FEELING DOWN
HOW I WISH THAT I COULD GET THE NEXT DRINKS ROUND.
HELP ME, NOT TOO LOOSE MY DRINKING CROWN,
WON'T YOU PLEASE,
PLEASE HELP ME,
HELP ME,
HELP ME, OH.

Let The Games Begin

Hello All,

Welcome to the Save the Liver Blog - thx to everyone that has donated, and to everyone who hasn't click click click (just under the dodgy photo of us)! If you have a chance to chuck a couple of quid towards this worthy cause and seeing Jez and myself suffer please do!

Now on with the update:

Friday 30th:
With my sobriety partner in crime making his way back from kiwi country, it was up to me to fly the flag and consume as much as possible heading into the last weekend before the big month 'O' pain.

It started innocently as a couple drinks after work
Then it was onto a mates for beers and pizza... so far so good.
But after that it went a bit pear shaped. After receiving the call of a house party in Notting Hill - it was off to the West-Siideeee with Benny and Co to a humble abode in the posh part of town. Of course the place was filled with a bunch of Melbournians, which meant good times till 4 in the morning.

Sat 31st:
Not wasting any time, the next day it was back on the sauce at lunchtime with a few tasty beers while watching the mighty Reds destroy Arsenal 4-1. By the evening and pint count was around 5-6 and the platform was set for the night ahead. Luckily a friends birthday dinner at a Japanese place was next on the list @ 7pm which would allow plenty of drinking time to lead into mid-night. A bit of Rum and Vodka was thrown into the mix as aperitifs before dinner began - from there it was cocktail city, the old favourite, the mojito was hitting a sour note so it was time to take it up a notch:

The Saketini - Sake + Gin and a customary olive: M-A-R-V-E-L-L-O-U-S!!

At 11pm I was getting a tad worried - i was feeling good, but with an hour left i needed a kick that would keep me going through the night. Then a bright spark suggested Sake for the table - and we were all systems go!! I reckon we were in the double figures of bottles by the time 12 hit. Although I can recommend not trying to skull hot Sake out of a large Mug at 11:59 with 20 seconds remaining, tends to sting the throat a little.

I was good to go for the next half hour, but once we got to the next venue and the hips were movin I felt a void in my right hand that was unfortunately only filled with red bull (or a cheap nasty version thereof). Our party took great delight in tempting me with the sweet sweet alcoholic nectar - but luckily with Sake in my belly I battled on and survived through the night.

The next day with sore head in toe, I was happy to be saying goodbye to that evil liquid - that was until later that night where while out catching up with friends and I was forced to enjoy all that coca-cola has too offer.

Now with Jez back in the country the hard yards are ahead of us - starting with this weeks Champions League. With games on Tues and Wed - both Liverpool and Chelski on show usually involves popping down to the local. However this time the local looks to be one of two couches with a glass of Cotties Cordial and a disgruntled look on our faces - go the sugar rush!

Welcome to Dan and Jez's endangered species campaign

As everyone who knows us is well aware, we love to get on the sauce. The social animals that we they are can't resist a night or day enjoying some of the finer liquid things: A delicious Magners Irish Cider on ice, a pint of San Miguel - fresh of the tap, and of course Zubrowka and apple for those special occasions.

But subsequently our livers are close to dissolving, so we have a devised a plan to save these endangered organs and help a few other people along the way. For the first time since out teens we are planning to go with out booze for a whole month. 30 days of Zip, Nada, bubcus... and we're gonna do it for charity.

Those who live/have lived in London are well aware of the enormity of this task - so we've decided to have a bit of fun with it and raise some cash for a good cause in the process.

For the month of April we plan to go booze free - beer, wine, spirits, the lot. And we're asking anyone who can, if you could donate to our cause that would be fantastic - our charity is the Endometriosis foundation and donations are as simple as a click though on this website. Something as little as a pound would be greatly appreciated.

But there is an added twist - if we break during our month of sobriety we will double the amount of money that is raised! We'll still be going out and about at our usual pace (meaning Friday, Sat, Sun Session and the odd midweek event for the football) - they'll still be weekends away, as we all know Easter falls within that time. But the lure of the sweet, sweet alcoholic nectar must not entrap us. So for those London peeps I'm sure you'll be mounting the peer pressure for sneaky ale but we will attempt not to crack. Oh and none of this; grab us a coke from the bar and slip a shot in there. Once we knowlingly take a sip its red rover for the us, and giddy up for the endometriosis foundation.

It's all for a good cause and a laugh - and we'll be providing weekly updates of our progress to keep everyone informed of the pain we'll be suffering.

So the challenge is set, the field is ready and let the games begin.

Lemonade, that cool refreshing drink....
